Cichlids compatibility with polys

Hi guys, idk to much about cichlids but i was thinking of adding some on my poly tank, do you guys think its a good or bad idea, i want some middle or top swimmers, but cant really find any that will compatible with alot of lower jaw polys. I know that some cichlids are aggressive and i dont want any of those spicies, and i need something big enough that my polys wont eat. I know feeding will be a challenge but im planning to feed the cichlids during morning and feeding the polys during night when lights are off.
Any suggestion will be great.

African or South/Central American? I've kept many different species of SA/CA cichlids with polys but I have no experience with Africans. Oscars, Severums, Convicts, Peacock Bass, Jack Dempsey and Jaguar have all been kept at some point or another with my polys.

If you want cichlids that won't eat the cut up tilapia. 2 suggestions are Central Americn Pearsei and Bocourti. The only downside is they get big.

Oh thats perfect size its about 12"-14" right

14-16 but takes a while. They like attention and follow you around. They're herbivores. Not aggressive. Just pigs when pellet feeding.
