Cichlids digging pits in all male tank ???

I have a all male cichlid tank 90 gallon .There's peacocks and Haps in it . I'm noticing one off my peacocks digging a big pit or hole . I thought they only do this when females are in the tank ? Or is this normal behavior?

Very normal. Cichlids both males and females will constantly be rescaping the substrate.

normal as stated. They dig. tho no female around they never know when will come around, they have no ideal that is not going to happen, in mean time nest and stake your claim.
