cichlids for a 40 gallon

just like it says i like cichlids but what kind can i have for life in a 40 gallon 36'' long thankyou for your help

could keep 2 or 3 convicts, maybe one firemouth alone for life, or african cichlids(though they need brackish), but there are many more possibilities. what are your preferences

i like all cichlids was kinda lookin for a single species tank or small community dont realy care for mixed africans tho im just alil stumped do to the tank size and lookin for some ideas

I keep a male Carpinte in my 40g. 36" x 14" x 18".

One JD, tex, salvini pair, GT, etc... all those could be happy for life in a 40. Not all at once of course.

you can do a community of smaller fish like blue acara, firemouth, hrp, etc

seriously, a pair of nics would be cool. just a larger solo fish would be neat, like a large jd or something.
