Cichlids for a planted tank

So I have a half @ssed planted tank - new to plants and it is not going well.... and I am sick of my angels and tetras that I have in it. I miss CA cichlids. It is a 55 gal and I want something that won't totally destroy my plants.. is there such a thing?

my sevs seem to do ok with my plants, they will nibble on them if its been like 2-3days since i've fed them.

Strange Severum.

Couple of H. nicaraguensis perhaps? South Americans you could look at are Keyholes, Rams, Apistos, Laetacara sp. etc.

I had sucess with keeping sajicas and blue acaras in a heavily planted tank.

I've never seen too many problems with some SA cichlids, especially smaller acaras

Rams, Apistogrammas, would probably be your best bet. but they dig i'm sure
