I recently realized that in order to keep all of my fish to adult size, I'll need a 600 gallon tank. Unfortunatly, my piggybank says that isn't going to happen any time soon, so I have some fish for sale:

4" Salvini (female) $20
3.5" Nicaraguan $20
4" Chuco godmanni $20
1.5" Archocentrus panamensis $7.50
1-2" F1 Salvini juvies $10 each or $50 for all. These fish are VERY colorful for their size, better colors than the big sal listed above
10" Ornate bichir $50 I know it's not a cichlid, but it needs a new home
3.5" Raphael catfish $15
7" Dovii (male) $45 Very personable, very aggressive fish. I hate to let it go but he's killed enough of my fish and I don't have the tank to keep him.

I can try to ship through USPS (at buyer's expense, obviously). PM me or post here if your interested.

I would be interested in the dovii. Do you have any experience shipping fish? I live in Peoria, IL. Thanks

I have shipped fish a few times before yes, but I'm afraid I can't offer live arrival guarantee. However, I've never had a DOA. I'll have to check with the USPS website, but shipping to your location should cost between $30 and $35. Thank you for your interest.

would you mind posting pics of ornate bichir? Thanks

I'll try to get pics of the ornate, but he likes to hide. I have one out of focus picture on my computer at home, but I can't get that loaded until this afternoon. I'm going to get pictures of everyone that's for sale as soon as I get home.

As for shipping, the fish will be shipped double bagged with breather bags. I recently ordered a pair of 6 inch cichlids that came single bagged in standard bags and they arrived in perfect condtion, so I know it can be done. I will also try to get my hands and some bag buddies to calm the fish.

Large fish = spines = no good in breather bags. When I ship larger fish I triple bag with a layer of newspaper between the second and third layer, as the dorsal spines go through most anything.

For bag buddies, talk to Kevin at a Place For Pets. He's hooked me up before with shipping boxes, bags, heat packs, and bag buddies.

I also worry about shipping of cichlids over 5 or 6 inches because of spines and oxygen demands. Maybe it would help folks if you let them know how you deal with those issues. Good luck on the sale!

yeah true, he could pm vendors here, they've sent me some good 14"er fish with spines etc, all in perfect condition.

Thanks for the shipping advice Modest Man, I'll take that into consideration. I don't think worrying about the fish coming alive should ever really stop you from ordering fish. I was really nervous the first time I tried, but I've never shipped a DOA nor recieved one.
