I have a female Dempsey alone in a 65 gallons tank. She is 5 inches long after 9 months of growth. How big will she get ? Is the growth finished after 9 months ? I'm interested in your personnal experiences concerning female dempsey growth or american cichlids in general if you think it applies to my case.

Thanks a lot.

I think they grow out to about 6-7" an then slow down a lot from there. But I'm not 100% sure.

Yes female will have a growth spurt from 1" - 5-6" in less than a year depending on feeding health and tank size. they will tend to slow down after 1 year old. they wont quite be as big as males. ive personally never seen one over 8" and we use to have a 6 year old female. ive seen a old pair also where the males was 8-9" and female 6-7". but urs will probably slow down now.
