MODS<im posting this in the hybrid and ca cichlid sections b/c i'm not sure where it goes. mods if that is redundant feel free to delete the less relevant thread if you want, but Id like to hear both opinions>

So I'm growing out a big batch of golden fader parrots right now, and have been experimenting with different ways of rearing them, given that I have so many.
I live in oklahoma, where, I have figured, dosen't get below 40 degrees ever for several more months, it being summer right now and all.

So i was considering putting a group of the parrots outside until fall, to see how well they grow outdoors as opposed to my indoor pond, where they are being reared right now.

The pond I can put them in is about 6 ft by 8 ft and about 4 ft deep, coming to a v shape in the middle. It is made of concrete and de-basified or whatever you call it.
Across the v shaped middle there are a number of flat rocks, providing caves and shade underneith.

The problem though, is that the pond is in direct sun. In the summer here things can get pretty hot, the temperature was 107 f today for example...

If I was to try growing cichlids in the pond I would throw in 5 or 6 parrot cichlids (they're about pingpongball size right now) maybe a jack dempsey and a pile of baby convicts... (I have lots of juvenille cichlids growing right now, so id just spare a few)

SO this is my predicament.

Is this a good idea?
Is the advantage of being in a large pond counteracted by the heat and relative low oxygen to an extent that makes it a bad idea?
or should I wait for fall?
Would it be better to try growing cichlids outside risking the heat of the summer or risking the cold of the winter?

thoughts....
