So I just put a dovii pair and red devil pair in my neighbors pond. The pond is maybe 30 yards long and about 20 yards wide. He said the pond was stocked with catfish and blue gill, all the fish in the pond were still young he said no bigger than 5 inches. My QUESTION is do you think the cichlids will reproduce in the pond? The male dovii was 11 inches the female was 8 inches. The male red devil was 8 inches the female was 5 inches.

He feeds the fish in the pond every morning and every afternoon. I think they have a good chance. I live in Louisiana and it doesnt get too cold during winter times either.

I guess it all depends on how cold this upcoming winter will be

I`m in Michigan. Once upon a time I put a pair of convicts in a pond in late June. Come late August I removed close to one hundred fish. This was a small garden pool really. Maybe five foot square and three deep. No food was added and no other fish present. If that can happen in the north I think you will be amazed at your results, if your fish survive the Winter!

How cold does the water get in winter? I have CA cichlids in a pond and they've survived a day or 2 of high 50s.
