I was wondering if angels, rainbow cichlids, blood parrot, firemouth, severums, and blue acaras do well with sens/ropes? I'm not sure what cichlids are large enough to avoid getting eaten but not too aggressive.

I don't have the tank, just thinking of possibilities for my future sen tank since I have no idea what size fish sens will be able to eat/kill but it would probably be 125-180g.

Any of those, with the exception of the parrot. BP's can be pretty aggressive. I would stay away from the little apisto types (because the polys could eat them) and aggressive ones like the various Parachromis, Amphilophus, Hericthys, Vieja species. With ropes I'd also stay away from things like oscars, or anything big enough to view a rope as a big worm and try to eat it.

Most cichlids large enough to not be eaten should be fine. I have kept bichirs with aggressive cichlids, including Vieja, Jag, Green Terror, with no problems at all.

Severums and blood parrots work well with senegal bichirs. Just make sure the senegal is larger than the parrot and close in size to the severum.

I've had great success (knock wood) with south americans and various bichirs (endli, senegalus, ornate). True Parrot cichlid, various severums, chocolate cichlid, uaru all get along famously with bichirs. I would second the oscar caveat, though. Six or seven years ago, my red oscar tried to eat his senegalus tankmate. It's nearly as much fun as it sounds to extract a live bichir from a live oscar.

Polleni, bleekeri, or jewel cichlids. All are from africa as are polys...

what size fish can sens and ropes generally fit in their mouth? Anything under 5 or 6 inches? I've heard angelfish can be eaten, and angels are pretty tall and are 6" long...

And do ropes do the death roll thing like sens do?

I keep my sens with my biggest jag. She goes on bullying spruts but never so much as tears a fin. My smaller jag hates them though. It may come to trial and error.
