Hi, I was wondering if cichlids (specifically African Cichlids) are compatible with a single black ghost knife. The reason I ask this question is because I'm not sure whether the cichlids will harass the BGK or not. Given plenty of places to hide, the question still boggles my mind. Feedback is much appreciative.

I don't think its a good mix. Maybe with CA/SA cichlids but I think africans are more territorial fish.

I agree. Get mildy aggressive SA/CA cichlids like angelfish or severums and geophagus to put with the BGK.

The water parameters for BGK and Africans are completely different. BGK like soft acidic water. Africans, I think, generally need harder, water with higher pH. However, I have a BGK who lives with sevs and HRPs w/o any issues.

i had a african rope fish with my african cichlids and he didnt do so well..mainly because he was blind and never got any food the cichlids gobbled it up before he got the chance to find it, i would think BGK would be the same

I had a BGK with my SA/CA cichlids, including some rougher customers, like green terror, jack dempsey and polleni, and the completely ignored him. To me it looked like the fact that the BGK looked and acted so differently made them treat him differently. And feeding him wasn't an issue either - he was shy at first, but then opened up can came right out during feeding time.
