ive been wondering if i should build my own stand or not. im leaning tward cinder blocks. ive seen quite a few on this site but im not sure how you guys stack um.

so who out there is using cinder blocks? show me some pics to see how theyre stacked. specially if its a tank 6'x2'!! thanks.

is it a glass or acrylic tank?

if its glass you are set.. if its acrylic you are still set but you need to do a bit more work since the full bottom needs to be supported.. to do this just use a few 2x4s and some plywood..

the "propper" way to stack cynder blocks is on edge.. meaning when you look down at them the two holes are pointing up...

for glass.. they are desigined to have the weight on the edges/trim pieces... adding a few 2x4s around the edges help to keep the weight more evenly distributed but are not fully necessary..

thats mine (outdoor 60 feeder tank)... i had a few more blocks added to it to bring up the hight and then i finally just built a stand for it

its glass. i was thinking of duing it three high. 3 in each corner then 3 in the front and back in the center. think thatd work allright?

Here is my 180g with cinder block stand. Used 24 full blocks and 8 half blocks, the blocks form a "U" shape at each side. I added two 2x12 boards topped with styro foam. Only drawback is the weight, full blocks are 32 lbs and halves are 16lbs.
