Have a tank right now with the following in it:

1 tinfoil angel - about 3 inches top to bottom, not including fins.
3 silver dollars - about 3.5-4.5 inches across
1 peacock eel - about 7-8 inches long
1 motoro singray - 8 inches across on the disc.

My LFS has a beauty of an aro thats about 7-8" in length. Think he would be a good fit in this setup? I would love to get an aro, but I want to make sure to get one big enough so the ray wont pick on him, but small enough so he wont become a bully.

My buddy who keeps Aro's at home was talking about leaving a ping pong ball in the tank floating for stimuli and as something he can peck at to help avoid drooping eyes. Anyone else heard of anything like this?

what size tank it doesnt seem to me like a good idea their is alot of diffrent thoughts about drop eye this isnt proven that the aro doesnt look up enough so it gets drop eye but thats a whole nother story the aro will grow quick and end up eating alot of your fish dont do it

its a 200 gal

and i thought silvers were alot less aggressive than other breeds, they are even described in the "considdering an Aro - look here" thread states that they are docile.

they are docile but if your fish can fit in their mouth they are going to eat it they are predators

None of the fish I have will be small enough to fit in his mouth, if he outgrows his tankmates or starts creeping on their size, then Ill swap out tankmates for bigger ones.

expect the aro to grow a inch to inch and a half a month the 200 should be ok for awhile but you will have to upgrade

Volume isn't really that important next to dimensions. Dimensions of your 200? You might also want to know, they jump at like every small thing so keep your lids on tight or you'll find a dried aro on your floor one morning. Make sure you keep that motoro well fed as well as it has the potential to kill and eat everything in your tank. That goes for the small aro as well.

The ping pong ball will work for about 8 seconds. Once the aro discovers that it is not food, likely it will pay no attention to it from that point on. Worse scenario is that the arowana eats the ping pong ball and dies.
