Hi all, I was wondering how much circulation arows needed in a tank. i mean turnover. also how much flow in tank?

thanks in advance!

Turnover is 10x per hour for HOB filters, 5x per hour for canisters, and 4x per hour for sumps. As always, more is always better.

lets put it this way, the more the better

my 1200litre tank rtg tankwithplenty of bichirs and auxilary fish have a turn over of more than 10x per hour. It has a sump filtration PLUS fluval fx5..callme paranoid - but i like to feed as much as they eat lol.

Turnover rate is only a very small part of proper filtration and circulation. IMO way too many people get hung up on this and saying more is always better is not true.

Make sure the amount of current in your aquarium doesn't overwhelm the arowana, this is especially true for baby aros

i would agree on the more turn over rate the better of course. i have a 180 gal with a eheim 2260 canister 900gph and i still don't think it's enought..

Why do you think this?

i know if your tank is too overturned then you bio filters wont get enough time to fully do their work on the water. im thinking on doing 1.5x - 3x
