I have a Macroganthus circumcinctus eel I picked up, who is about 2.5in long. I want to put him in a 72g tank with lots of loaches, but I am worried he will be out competed for food. Right now he is by himself in quarantine, and I think he is eating, though I haven't actually seen him. The inhabitants of the 72 are small, peaceful cichlids like keyholes, black neon tetras, rasboras, otos, and many loaches (kuhli, sidthmunki, striata, kubotai, historanica, 1 yoyo, sumo, hillstream, gara, etc.)
Would he be able to compete for food in here? I do feed the tank fairly generously on frozen food, using a turkey baster to get it down at the bottom and spread it around so everyone get's their fair share... but still I know they slower feeders. Would adding a couple more small eels make him more likely to be bold in competing for food?
