Explanation: I went to Circuit City and purchased an Onkyo RX-SR603 or so I thought. When I got home and opened the box, to my amazement, it was a ‘used’ Onkyo RX-SR602! I went back to Circuit City and presented my concern to the Sales Manager, who defaulted from Circuit City’s ‘Satisfaction Guarantee’… gave me two options; exchange or gift card. Receiving a refund was not an option... WTF!!!

$511.14 Circuit City Gift Card… for ONLY $485.58 !!! :headbang2

Superbowl is just around the corner and I know someone plans to purchase that big screen TV… :woot:

Any takers!

Pop that up on Ebay.they are getting close to what your asking now..jmo

Hmm lets see... If you bought the "Onkyo RX-SR603" after your friend bought the "Onkyo RX-SR602" well then, you could put his in your box and try to return it with your receipt. I guess they are trying to cover their butts and not lose money from scams like that.

PS: I'm not saying you tried to scam them! But I bet others have.

Fsc46... What the heck are you talking about?

Your comment does make sense to me.

Why would two people purchase high-end items that they wanted, just to turn around and get rid of it.? Is it just for the money??? Why wouldn't that person just take it back themselves? Or, why wouldn't that person who wanted the upgrade sell-off his and use the money to purchase another one?

Please explain.

ie. Let's say you need a new receiver (Onkyo RX-SR603) for your home but you want to pay the Onkyo RX-SR602 price. You could buy the SR602 then have your buddy buy the SR603 with the cash you gave him. Put the SR602 into th SR603 box and send your buddy back to try and get a cash refund.

They are aware of this problem and will only give you store credit or an exhange. Thus screwing you instead cause;

1) You now own a receiver that you only saved a few bucks on AND they have your money on the 2nd receiver that you can't return. You still have the store credit but now you are stuck trying to sell it so that you can get your money back.

or

2) You now own 2 receivers (one of which you don't want) AND you only got a small discount on one of them.

Another scam people try;

They fill up their cart with electronic items and wait til no one is looking and bolt for the door. Well no manager wants to follow them all day and hope an emergery never comes up soooo, they walk up to suspect and offer them 10-15% off everything in the basket as the direct them to the register. What honest person wouldn't want that? Funny how many people have walked out of a store with nothing with such a great deal on the table.

okay, I wrote your scenario down and done the math.... Now, I see your point! LOL
Criminal minds... it's scary!

Your second comment is pretty interesting too... what a shame.

I think I may have to get this Gift Card split into smaller amounts, if they would allow that.....

New Offer: $511.14 Circuit City Gift Card… for 20% off - ONLY $408.91 !!!

20% + whatever Circuit City discounts or sales offers WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

This could mean 35-45% off on selected items.... WOW
