I am thinking of swapping my BGK for a CK. I have a 4 inch leopard ctenopoma in the tank and thinking about getting a 4-6 inch CK. Will this work long term? The other fish in the tank I know will work with the CK long term. This is the only mix I am concerned about.

Well Ctenopoma acutirostre only reaches about 6", no it would not work long term with the Clown Knife. Ctenopomas aren't really strong swimmers.

Lol! I disagree. I grew my leopard ctenopoma from a 3" baby and now it's 8.5". It's been with my 27" clown knife and the CK don't even bother it. Also even at 6" ctenopoma, an average captive breed CK only max out 18-21 inches and there mouth is not big enough to try to swallow a very tall fish with pointy spines.

:iagree:

So if a 27 inch CK doesn't bother an 8.5" leopard ctenopoma, then that means red-hook silver dollars grow large enough to live with a CK for life as well, right? I think red-hooks grow to be 8 inches.
