I tried looking through the ck section 13 pages, and found nothing. I'm not sure if someone was just making this up to me, or what, because every place I've asked has never heard it. I was told that ck's urine is toxic. I had an oscar, and put the ck in after, the oscar ended up dying. I'm thinking maybe the tank was too small at the time. We assumed back then that if the tank had been larger the urine may have not been too bad for the oscar. But this has been, 2-3 years, and I've inquired to many people about it and starting to believe it's not true after all. My husband wants to throw in 2 medium oscars (our ck's in a 90gal) however we're worried for them despite our ck's docile nature. Any thoughts? Can you dispel this for me so I can settle the debate with hubby? lol.

Never hear of that before. CKs are consistently being kept with other fish, so the urine thing is definitely false...to a certain extent. Fish obviously defecate in the water, but water changes and biological filtration should help break the toxicity down.

^ yea must be more with your tank setup .. first timei iheard that a ck is toxic to others. how big is the ck now . might be not a good idea to add more if one died.. maybe hes just a boss dont like others... they do need alot more space then a 90 ..

the oscar that died was 2-3 years ago ;) my guess is the ck will kill anything you put in the tank if it has been living solo for so long, and it will have nothing to do with its urine.

Also, the tank is too small for one CK, much less an oscar...

90 is about right for a pair of oscars alone, too small for a ck, clown knives need a minimum, absolute minimum, of 300 gallons. That's why I don't have one yet.

If your worried about piss check your water for amomnia

. . . 'simplicity' is an art form not to be underestimated or used blindly;

it is not an excuse for gross stupidity;

it is correct to keep things simple because you have a wealth of: information, intelligence and experiences to back up the 'on the surface simplicity'.
