Ok i want to know why my CKF kills some fish and others he leaves alone. Now i guessing there really is no awnser to this. But my CKF is fine with alot of fish and others he kills soon as i put them in the tank. I have small fish like cory cats, a small datnoid, a small green serverum that he doesn't bother with them at all. Then like today i put a Jack Dempsy in there about the same size as the Datnoid and Serverum and he kills him. I dont get it. Anyone have any ideas?

Possibility of territory. How long have the other fish been with the CK? What other fish have you tried?

Fish he has left alone are tiger shovel nose 4-5 months, datnoid and severum 1 month, rapheal 1 year, cory cats and pleco 8 months. Fish he has killed are irridenent shark, pictus catfish, jack dempsy there may have a couple more he has killed.

Ok guys, today i found a big red terror cichlid that was dropped off at the LFS for real cheap today. I know red terrors are very aggressive. Would it be a good idea or bad idea to put him with my aggressive CKF. I figure it could go either way. They avoid each other or there will be a fight to the death. What do you think?

how big is your tank? and how big is the red terror and fish you already have? red terror will probably leave clown knife alone but if others are alot smaller and it was raised as the dominant fish in the tank then there is big possibility it will kill others especially the severum

my ckf has the same problem...she killed my pacu but she left my senegal bichir alone..maybe because the bichir does not "invade" her swimming space or because the bichir does not swim a lot...watch out if you put the red terror with the ckf even though tha ckf is aggressive it cannot match the aggressiveness of a cichlid. my jag once had beat up my ckf badly even though my ckf is twice the size of my jag

i have 2 ckf around 18 i tryed to add a flower horn once thinking with it being a cichlid it would be fine . but to my supprise the ckf worked like a pair of wolfs and started to take it apart
