Yes very sad, I pleaded with a Dr at the dr office to let me rehome his two Pacu in a 90G bow front. Even my tank would not have been big enough at only " but it would have been better then what he had them in.
Edit:
Flame me if you will but I honestly don't think cat fish have a place in a tank, I have only seen a few tanks that could properly home these 4 and 5 foot beast.
True, which is is why i personally believe you should either already have the tank, or be in the process of completing it (not just in the process of starting it) before purchasing fish that you know will grow to about 3' - 4'+
Too many people say they will upgrade as the fish needs it, but very rarely is that the case or the fish grow so damn quick they can't upgrade in time before damage is done...
Disclaimer: obviously i know there are also people out there who WILL actually upgrade as needed (as a lot of MFKers do that)... but lets face it for the majority of fish keepers around the world, its just talk...
Those red tail cats look really healthy for the tank they have been in. Too bad someone can't pick these guys up and rehome them properly, or he might be bale to donate them to a public aquarium or something. When I went to the Dallas World Aquarium I was able to see some full grown RTC. These guys were 4-5 feet long and thick as well. It would take a large tank to keep them in for sure.
