I have a nice colony of both sterbai and CL's in my tank at the moment. Other then them there just two plec's one common and one L253.

I love how they interact with each other and the balance at the moment is great in the tank. Only problem being, the top half of the tank is pretty static as all the action is on the bottom...

My CL's are all about 2" and the Sterbai aren't huge either... What could I put in the tank, that would be a cool fish to lurk around the mid/top area of the tank... That wouldn't hassle my bottom dwellers?

I'd be grateful for any opinions of what options would be open to me. Please nothing that would attack my sterbai or CL, but rather something that would compliment them and not trouble them

How big is your tank? I have corries, plecos, and CL's dominating the bottom. On rare occassions will the CL's swim mid/top. 2 angels and 6 discus' occupy the top, middle, and will occassionally scavage the bottom for bits and pieces of food. I think it's a good balance. Of course, I have a 125 (US) gallon tank.

It's 6x2x2 with a sump also so I think about 200 gallon in total. The Sterbai do come up now and again but mostly just lurk around the bottom, they are very active, but just stay kinda low...

I do like Discus but heard there very high maintenance? I'm not that experienced so wouldn't wanna get involved with a species that is too delicate. They do look great though

When you pack the tank full of Clown Loaches, they aren't just Bottom Dwellers!

lol ewurm I have 20 CL's, so a fair old lot, but as there so small I think there still on the shy side...

I'm guessing once they grow a bit they'll be out and about more?

Or maybe some fish dwelling higher up will encourage them to venture upwards?

ah thanks for the ideas..

those arulius actually look quite cool, haven't seen them before :)
