CL Water Conditions and Food?

I think I can fit 5-7 CLs in my 125 Gal. My water pH is 7.8. Is that too high? I've heard these need nice consistent water param's. And what do I feed them? Hopefully not flakes because my other fish are a little big for flake and won't let many of them reach the bottom. Is there something that SA/CA cichlids won't eat that the CL's like? Or can CLs compete at feeding time?

ETA: And how do they do with Pictus Cats? Pleco's?

Pet smart,Petco, and Pet supplies plus sell bottom feeding tablets specifically for loaches, and most bottom dwelling catfish . Cl are equipped with spines under their eyes they will use them for defending themselves.

They'll be okay in that ph. I keep CL with African cichlids for years and I haven't had any problems. My param might be higher, but I'm not sure since I don't check... I feed them whatever I feed my cichlids/petros, which are dainichi, nls, and krill.

Hardness and temp will be more important to your clowns, they like it warm and soft.
