just wondering would an ultra maxima clam be ok in a 10 gallon tank with 65w 50/50 power compact lighting? or is that not enough? i have a choice of 1"ers or 3"ers. also placement of clam? thanks

sounds enough and of the right colors. just place him in the top 1/2 to 2/3 of the tank and he should be fine. what are you planning on feeding, if anything?

most likely DT phyto. wouldnt recommend putting him on the sand bed? because the medium sized (3"ers) have a piece of rock already attached to them

I don't think a maxima will do very well in a 10 gallon with only PC lighting. Maybe a Deresa or a Squamosa would be better for you. They will do well with lower light. Good luck. If you do buy it put it as close to the light as possible!

If you have enough wattage, I have seen some do ok, some not so ok. It is the 10 gallon tank that I'm concerned with. I would go with at least 40 gallons.

decided not to get a clam after all. did some more research and read that if i got a maxima it would only slowly die with PC. metal halide is what is needed for them to strive based on the spectrum given off on a PC is simply not enough. thanks for the help though
