So my son caught this little clam while we were scud hunting a while back. It buried itself and I forgot about it. Today I moved some gravel and there it was. Its healthy as far as I can tell and I'm probably gonna snag 3-4 more. That way there's not too many filter feeders.
The tank it's in is a river setup so lots of uni-directional current and has no real filter just a water pump with sponges. In the last photo you can see it buried under the black rock.20200712_101450.jpg20200712_101634(1).jpg20200712_101824.jpg20200712_102431.jpg20200712_102323.jpg

Rough parts gonna be identifying it. Best I have is susquehanna river in central pa.
Also worth noting it's at least 3 large dams up from the ocean

Think it may be an Asian golden clam. Invasive and listed in that part of the river as well. So good news is its tank temp friendly. Bad news is it can self fertilize apparently so maybe I'll be able to get vampire shrimp too?

Be careful with those as I’ve read that the main reason they’re not kept more often is that their deaths often go unnoticed and they end up nuking the tank basically when they die.

That's why I was quite surprised that it's made it so far. Tank gets like 2 algae wafers a week, to keep my snails and scuds multiplying and nothing else really. Has a great population of tiny inverts also. So hopefully it goes well.

They require copious amounts of filterable food and a good calcium source, good luck
