Clarifier from recycled items!

I've been thinking about doing this. What are the dimensions?

Looks interesting, what are the details on this thing? Water spins around while heavy junk sinks and good clean water leaves out the top, and includes a lid?

That's the basic premise, yes. As long as they are cleaned out regularly, they work pretty efficiently (like a settling chamber).

I have been looking for a cheap used cone-bottom tank for over a year. There aren't many hog farms around here, so I may just have to bite the bullet and shell out the $200 for a brand new one...

Do you notice much waste accumulating in the bottom? I want to install one mostly to drop out the sand before it gets to the filter socks, but I am curious how much detritus it pulls out.

Works well, collects quite a bit of waste which I can drain off the bottom. The larger pipe is the inlet and it's gravity feed into the clarifier and the bio filter pump draws from the smaller pipe. Been thinking about trying one as a bio filter/clarifier combo and see how that works out. The plexi lid was great for the first week then it warped really bad...lol. Using a blue foam lid now but if I did do another plexi lid it would have to be much thicker or of a plastic that would not warp.

Awesome idea, great execution.
If you glue a straight piece of acrylic on its edge to the underside of the lid, it will keep it from warping...thats what I do...you may need to create a "t" shape or even a "box" but its cheaper than thicker acrylic.
