has anyone kept these together ?

i think they shoudl get on well together but i thought i would ask the question all the same.

clarius catfish / walking catfish and stingray ( motoro )

similar sizes

Why would you want to put something as destructive and potentially aggressive in with a wonderful fish such as a stingray......surely there are far better tank mates,im sure there are worst choices......... i just cant think of any...lol!!

so . not so impressed then lol

ok . i was thinking that alot of people keep things like tigs , tsns and rtcs ( i think ) so i wondered if a clarius being as active as i beleive they are would work well.

from your reply im guessing you think not lol

as far as destructive and potentialy agressive go i didnt think they were any worse than alot of other tank mates like aros or . errr. some other fish lol .

still , its the reason i asked the question so im happy to hear any comments.

lol couldnt say it better myself

ok .maybe i got the wrong end of the stick .

what do you mean by destructive ?

will they / it be a problem for the rays at all ?

i think any large fish has potential to be agressive and destructive. but would this fish be worse than others

if its likley to be a problem to the rays its a no as the rays have priority . but i do like the clarius and they are active and interesting too .

Hi Gaz.
These cats eat like nothing on earth....insatiable appetites, the growth rate is alarming to say the least.Although theres always someone out there that will chip in with.....my cat has never caused any problems,it lives with Neons and so on....i can tell you from experience this species doesnt only rearrange the tank with sudden lunges into the substrate it also often damages other fish(tank mates) during the night......not worth the risk, thats only my opinion of course, you make your own mind up.
Good luck!

i keep them together no problems. But the clarius do eat a lot. i also have tig with them with no prob.

It find it kinda sick cos these are my feeders, when the rays are pups lol. A bag of 300 goes for about $16 in Singapore.

The bigger ones could nibble on the rays disk and kill the ray through stress.

Keep a watchful eye, but one of these catfishes 1/3 the size of the ray should be safer. The catfish will catch up in size, and you should be able to keep them together longer.

Don't expect any future ray pups to survive though.
