okay so most of us know that giant squids (Architeuthis dux) fight with sperm whales (physeter catadon) to stay alive. Well i wanna know your guys' opinions on who you think is the winner of most of these fights. (btw im 14, and when i turn 18 im going to college to be a marine biologist.):nilly:

Well ur def-n-ly in the wrong area for this topic...

I think the whales win the most of these wars. Yes the whales get nice crunks taken out of them but there are giant squid found inside whales alot more.

okay so im m the wrong are, my bad still new to this site, well anyway, i think there is a possibility of the squid winning, im not totally sure how bc it weighs like a tiny fraction of the whale, but there could be chances, what if it rips it eye out?

I don't care who wins. I want to see that 400 ton whale.

Seeing as how sperm whales eat squids of all kinds, including collossal and giant squids, their pretty equipted to take them down without much harm to themselves, just a few scratches. Their blubber's thick enough that the hooks on a collossal squid are not going to penetrate deep enough to do any real damage.

Another thing is alot of scientist think that the sperm whales may focus their sonar into a tight "beam"(can't think of a better word) to stune prey, and then they jut gobble them up. Thats what they think the huge head is for, and organ(of sorts?) is locted in there. (This might be more than a theory, it may have been proven but i'm not sure.)

Besides all of that, the sperm whale just plain has body mass on it's side, sure a giant or collossal quid may be close to as long at the sperm whale in some instances, but it's no where as bulky. Also warm blooded "air breathers"(sure theres a scientific term for it) tend to have more power, energy, and stamina than an animal that is cold blooded, and gets it's oxygen through gills.

Besides...how many squid do we fnd with whale parts in them. ;)

okay well i see ur point, but i still stick with the squid, im sorry i just absolutely love em!

whale, hands down. It has 1' thick skin, and below that a few more of blubber. You have to slice through 3 feet of tissue before you even begin to do damage to it
