Hello,

I am faily new to the forum, and have not posted much. There is a lot of great info on here. I have had fish most of my life. I am currently down to two tanks. A 120 gal tank with a 22 in CK, 12 in black shark, and 16 in pleco. The other tank is a 75 gal community tank.

I have hed the 120 gal tank for almost 2 years now. Those three fish have been in there together since I set it up. Until recently, they have coexisted rather piecefully. I guess the knife has now reached a size that he is now looking at the shark as food. I need to find a home for one of them soon. If I transfer hime to the 75 gal tank, the shark will tear most everything apart. One of the problems is many of the LFS's here in central MD have gone out of business. There is 1 store in Frederick, but I would, rather adopt one of them out then selling back to the store. I may try craiglist, however that is a gamble. I am not sure which one I will get rid of yet. I would like to keep the CK, however it might be another year or two, to get him into something bigger (wife said I must finish the basement before I get anything bigger). Any recomendations would be appreciated.

Always sucks having to get rid of one of the "family". I would let the shark go, but then again I am partial to CK. If I were you, I would think about what I might do after I finished the basement. If the CK is trying to eat the shark now, then odds are you will not be able to add anything under 14"-15" to the tank with it. That will become very expensive, buying fish that size. I am not familiar with the black shark, but if you can add smaller fish with it, then keep it and aquire a new CK later. In WV my LFS are very limited and getting large fish is all but impossible and most of the larger ones I find out of state, people won't ship. Good Luck, its a tough decision either way.
 
Yes it tough. I have thought about getting rid of some of the community fish (Angels, Balashark, Irridecent sharks etc and trying to place the shark in that tank. I still would a 4 pimadela, some weather loaches and a Firemouth in with him. The Pimadela (sp?) is close the the size of the shark, however the loaches and firemouth are smaller ( Around 4 to 6 in ea.)
 
Here are some pics of the my three big guys. I thought I had a new of the knifee, but maybe the wife deleted it. She si not a big fan of the fish.

Id say keep the knifefish, but im speaking out of personal preference. I would sell all of my stock if I ever had to to get my royal, I just love him wayy to much to see him go. But of course the choice is yours. Moving the bala shark to the 75 might be a good idea if you dont mind loosing your community tank. Good luck man, keep us posted.

It is a black shark. I end up moving him to the 75 on Monday. Unfortunatly he jumped out of the net as I was pulling him out of the big tank and he fell almost 4 ft to the floor. I was able to scoop him up and toss him into the tank, but I do not know how bad he may have hurt himself internally. He does not seem to be bothering the other fish, but he does not look like himself either. He is pretty lethargic. he has some fin and scale damage from the knife and pleco before the move. I hope he pulls through.

Wow! That's lucky! Best of luck he pulls through and is not hurt!
