i have a 75 gal oscar tank (2 oscars)

i have one common pleco that its diet consist of left over food from the oscars, and some algae. im looking for a fish/bottom feeder that will eat more of the algae. i also want to find something that will clean up after the pleco (its poo) i had a crab that did great cleaning that up, but that did not work out in an oscar tank.

so in short terms, im looking for something that has a large algae diet, and something that will clean things off the bottom.

if it matters, the oscars are not full grown yet, 5 inches and less in length. i had the Chinese algae eaters in there before i put the oscars in, and the oscars did not mess with them once i put them in and they did a great job of keeping it clean. but once i started feeding the oscars feeder fish they started going after the Chinese algae eaters.

any advice is apricated.

You'll be hard pressed to find anything that eats poo. maybe you should put a filter on your tank and get a python for waterchanges. As for cleaning up food your Oscar misses, a Striped Raphael Catfish would work perfectly.

yea i need to get another raphael catfish, i got rid of the last one because it keep eating all of my Chinese algae eaters. but cleaned up the bottom nicely.

i have heard, but dont know, that some plecos are more into algae as the common plecos once they get larger/older there diet switches from algae to fish food. from what i have heard.

if only i could get a crab big enough that the oscar would not mess with, then i would be set. but i dont see them getting along with each other.

You could keep buying groups of ghost shrimp. They will be good snacks for your Os and will also eat crap on the bottom. Could even end up reproducing if you have enough places to hide. Raphs are good too. Give them a place to hide during day and they will be your night shift janitors. You may never see them, but they do a good job cleaning leftovers.
WELCOME TO MFK.

yea i did not see the one i had that much. do they need hiding places?? i kinda like the open tank look and only have a few fake plants in the tank. i do like the ghost shrimp idea tho.

maybe i could get a pump that blows across the bottom to keep it stirred up.

Get a larger pleco. I also don't know of anything that will eat the poop. You will need to do water changes to remove it. Oscars produce a bunch of waste so you will need good filtration and water changes are a must.

this is about how it sits today set up wise.
