I have 1 Oscar in a 75g. That's it.

There are a few thousand MTS that stay hidden in the sand. Larger ones get eaten by the O.

He eats pellets and is a sloppy eater. I need something strictly for cleanup at the bottom that won't get eaten.

Right now he's about 7" in length.

I don't want to increase the bio load much, and need something that likes submerged, spit up cichlid pellets.

Would larger snails feed on this? I really don't want more fish, but hate staring at the food he chomps on and sloppily misses

What are you feeding? The excess food is being consumed by the MTS but it is also causing a population explosion. Pellets shouldn't be chewed so I would say you're feeding somthing bigger than necessary.

Hikari Cichlid gold.

Right now I'm transitioning between the medium and large pellets. The large pellets he definitely spits out partially. The medium pellets get mostly consumed.

Perhaps I should stick to medium for a while longer. Maybe that's all I need to do.

I don't mind the MTS. Mostly the small ones survive as anything 1/2" or larger gets eaten if caught on the glass after lights up.

The smaller the pellet the better within reason. NLS makes a 3mm floating pellet that might be perfect for him. I had a 14" RD that ate only NLS 4.5mm floating pellets. If you keep the waste to a minimum you'll improve you water quality too. At any rate yes, use the smaller pellet and if he's doing a lot of chewing go to a smaller pellet. The food needs to get into his stomach not out through his gills.

My Oscars are about 6-8 inches and I feed them small floating pellets and they still spit out a lot
