So I have 1 orino and 2 Ocell all the same size, and a red oscar approximately the same size. I got the oscar because my plan was to starve the cichlas while they watch the oscar eat pellets, and this has worked out great (my peacocks are now eating pellets and hitting them HARD).

problem is, the oscar makes a huge mess when he eats the pellets (and i'm not over feeding him, he's just messy as hell). I want to get something for a clean up crew that won't get eaten by my peacocks but will also add some activity to the tank as well.

the fish are all around 4 inches long. I want to avoid a pleco if I can as I have had a couple go INSANE and kill everything in the tank, plus they're rather boring. I'm thinking about tinfoil barbs but I'm afraid they'll just end up eating the pellets as well which isn't too much of a problem. I was going to grab like 4-6 shiners from the bait shop but I'm worried about disease. It would definitely be cool if it were some kind of fish from the amazon river if possible. anyways, TIA.

How about you insert yourself and try eating some poop? Just kidding! Nothing eats just poop. Anything else will eat the FISH food too. The best clean-up crew would be tank maintenance.

 i never said anything about eating poop. i was talking about the mess left after the oscar chews up a pellet and lets it float through his gills.

Dachy - Got it - Well, smaller fish are good for that, but your fish will eat those.

Why have you not considered any of the many catfish species?

Pictus would be very easy snacks very soon for the Bass, and then the Oscar. Try something abit bigger.

A powerhead and more filtration. The powerhead will keep the smaller particles floating and pass them to the filter cleaning the tank. Not much for adding livliness to the tank though.

What kind of Crap are you feeding him :D

Feeding them Hikari Tropical Food Sticks "Great for top feeding carnivorous fish" hah.

There's your problem!! Those are MESSY!!!!!! Almost as bad as tetra cichlid sticks!! :D Try some frozen or slightly thawed peas as well :) This will at least be less mess :)

NLS is one of my favorites :)
