Im sure plenty of you guys know this but I never knew how much of a difference clean water would make. I had a texas and green texas breed in my 75 gallon. The mom died but I left them with their dad for a week then siphoned them into my 40 gallon that had some convict fry. 2 weeks later I found 3 fry still in the 75 and they were larger than the ones in the 40 gallon. For those 2 weeks the 3 fry, I call them the 3 musketeers, had nothing to eat except the algae thats growing on the back glass while the ones in the 40 gallon are getting 2-3 feedings of baby brine shrimp and 50% WC every 2-3 days. Maybe I need to up my water changes in the 40 but I'm amazed at how I had to do nothing to the 3 musketeers and they're still growing.

Hey read your post and realized something, I had 2 diff convict pairs one I left with the parents in the 55 the other I took the fry out in a 10g for now the ones in the 55 way bigger. I think its partly bc I noticed the parents make sure they get a lot of food. Clean water of course helps too. But next time I'm leaving them with the parents to speed it up.

IMO leaving clean water aside,i do think the tank space also matters as u both saw that when u left the fry in 75g or 55g they grew bigger than those which were in a 40 or 10,maybe that was the reason with clean water being other one
