Does anyone know the trick to keeping cleaner wrasse (dimidiatus, or however it is spelt) alive? I bought one today and he looks fat and healthy and was feeding on Mysis half hour after i introduced him. I won't get my hopes up though!!

i had one for about two years, a little over that. one day he was gone and I never found the body. He will eat BS, but he also keep other tank mate clean. I get another one after that but he only last three weeks:(

Yeah one of my lfs had one in their display for two years then one night he jumped out, they couldn't really offer me any tricks or advice that was different to what i have tried.
The one i bought today sucked in some frozen BS but spat out so i will try some live stuff tomorrow. Maybe it is like the moorish, a minority get lucky and a majority don't????

providing it is eating you should not have many problems keeping it. The main problems seem to be with wild caught ones refusing to adjust to tank conditions and starving to death. I have a juvenile one (about an inch and a half long) which will eat fine if I have stuff small enough for it to eat, but it was kept in the LFS for a couple of months while it adjusted after being caught. The younger it is the more chances of it adjusting. Older wild caught fishes often don't adjust to tank conditions and starve themselves, if yours is eating it's got a pretty good chance
