I picked up a brand new 180g tank and was wondering how much I need to clean it. It was pretty clean from the start. I used paper towels to pick up whatever little debris there was and then use a wet cloth to wipe down the inside. Any recommendations on what else I need to do?

Use bleach if you suspect it might contain organisms, otherwise vinegar and water will do just fine. Rinse that off with clean paper towels.

I will try the vinegar and water mix. Considering the size and weight its kind of hard to rinse out well. Will do my best.

Fill it with a few inches of water and add your vinegar mix then just do the best you can to use that water to wash the sides. Then drain and refill with a few inches of straight water to rinse. A shop vac works great for draining those last few inches of water out.

I am of the bleach club, disinfect the puppy, use 100% bleach, can be found at any hardware store, mix per instructions with water for disinfection and wipe it down, any remaining will gas/evaporate out. if? any residue prime will handle it when you fill the tank, and being a new/used tank water test it first.

for the vinegar suggestion, this is good for removing hard water stains and deposits but not a full disinfection.

So pretty much if I use the bleach approach it is safe as the remaining bleach solution will evaporate?

Forgot to mention that while the table is new, I'm brining over all existing media so I will be putting my existing fish in ASAP after cleaned. Goal is to clean Wednesday and get my fish in the tank on friday.
