Cleaning a reef tank for FW

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when i got my 135 it was used for a reef. on the way back to my house i stopped at one of those car washes you do it your self and power washed it out. then when i got home i washed it again with the hose for a while just incase there was and remnants of wax in the power washer. make sure you have a old blanket you no longer want under the tank thats how i did mine.

i hear vinegar helps loads...

i usually do an initial scraping with razor blades then i fill the tank up and let the calcium soak for a bit.. it makes it a bit easier to get the rest off

yup, what they said. If you get a razorblade it should mostly come off unless it's in some scratches in the tank. Vinegar works well on any kind of calcium deposit, eats it right up. It also works for cleaning toilets........:)
