How!? I've got about 100fry in a 10gallon right now, I can change the water but I can't siphon anything off the bottom of the tank without siphoning up fry. Any tips/advice? I thought about putting a sponge inside my python tube but fry might get stuck to it and it's not going to clean up the debris anyways.

Either wait or move 'em. I use the sponge for water changes, but I don't gravel vac (if there is any gravel) until they either get big or I move them.

It's a barebottom but there is some fuzzy food rotting on the bottom (very little but I can tell it's there) that I'd really like to get out. The only thing I could think of is siphon the bottom carefully into a bucket and then pick the fry out of the gunk but my tank is only 6" above the ground so that's out of the question. I guess I can just siphon with a sponge. Will the rotting food on the bottom affect my water quality? Theres barely any but I like to keep my tanks spotless and it's really bugging me.

can you spot siphon with an air line?

That's what I do...

When I keep my hand/finger on the end of the hose that is in the tank the fry tend to avoid the big scarey thing (my hand) and if one wonders too close I simply put my finger over the end to pause the siphon.

use a turkey baster

that's what I was getting at in my last post but like I said the tank is only 6" off the ground so I can't. I may move the tank up higher so I can do this.

best idea I've heard so far. Thanks, I'm going to try it.

Snails.....

I have a big snail I use to clean up under filtered tanks with small fish but not fry. You sure he won't eat any of my fry?

My snails do not eat my fry...even in the wriggling state.
