Hi Guys,

I have a question for you all.

I just picked up a used 2x2x2 tank that I am going to be using as a top up tank for my 350 gal and I was just wondering whats the best method to clean it as the guy had been using it to bread mice. :nilly:

i would use CLR, i know its a chemical, but if you can use it in a coffee pot and just rinse it out then drink out of it, ive always figred it was OK. i let the tank air out for a day when i do that
rubbing alcohol works ok, so does white vinegar(mostly for hard water stains)

yes, check over the silicone. You almost always have to reseal a mouse/rat tank.
It's easy to reseal a tank that size though. Just scrape all of the silicone off with a
razor, rub with alcohol. Tape, a spoon, and silicone and your good to go.

:iagree: I've always had good luck with used tanks using a very diluted water and pure ammonia mixture. Then I washed the tank out 3 or 4 times with water really good to make sure there was no residue left and let dry out.

You should get a blacklight to make sure you got all the bodily fluids out of the tank!

Well...there was a suggestion for a "herp" tank...leave the bodily fluids in!!!

Warm water and vinegar will work well!
