Hey guys ive got yet another question. I recently aquired another 55 gallon tank with stand from a friend who was moving. It was a freshwater steup but i am going to set it up into a saltwater display tank. The problem is that it has no water in it and hasnt had water in it but some algea remained. The algea now looks like a white film on the glass and i cant scrub it off. Ive tried useing a toothbrush and that didnt work. Any ideas on how to make this tank crystal clear again?

That's calcium deposit. Use vinegar or oxalic acid and wash it thoroughly.

also, this is what i do for scraping the glass on my tanks. this ONLY works if your tank is full of water. never scrape it dry. i bought a wide plastic putty knife at a hardware store for less than 2 bucks. it works better than any other tool i have used including the many designed for algae removal. just angle and scrape. you may want to try this method with the vinegar, but make sure it is not dry when you remove it
