how often should i clean my wet/dry on my 125g african cichlid tank .also how often should i change my water in the tank an ow often should i vacum the tank out
the filter pads you can rinse them in tap water. You don't want to rinse your bio-media which would be bioballs, ceramic rings, pot scrubbies, etc. Those you would rinse in old tank water.
As for vacuuming your tank, it will be difficult to vacuum that tank if you want to do a great job. The more deco. you put, the more harder it is for you to clean it. Reasoning is because most of the debris will be tucked in underneath your deco. So you may think you did a fine job at vacuuming the gravel and avoiding the rockwork, but you will find out the majority of your debris is tucked in underneath your deco.
On the other hand, if you have small fishes and a light bio-load, then you can get away with water changes once a month. But if your talking cichlids and plenty of them, then water changes are gonna need to be frequent if you want to reduce nitrates
i figured about 25 of them in this tank i have two red top zebras in there an a blue cobalt an two fish that are a crossbreed i belive they were mated wit a red empress an hap of some type. i figured i would like to have a couple of bumble bees in there an a pleco an im not sure what other fish to include . the zebras an t cobalt should take care of the blue in the tank an the bumble bees will give it some yellow. an the other two fish i got will have some red an blue in them with yellow fins. any suggestions on what else to put in this tank.
