Cleaning and shaving pvc

Hey do you clean and shave or sand PVC? I cut the pieces I want but they are pretty dirty. Thanks

Get a metal ruler or some fine sandpaper and scrape the outisde of the tube if its really dirty and you can remove the surface dirt...

When i cleaned my PVC pipes thats all i personally did, then got some clean water and rinsed it off before placing into the tank...

Although at the time i did it to mainly remove the printed writing on the outside of the pipe...

I think he's referring to the new ones from the store when the new shipment hasn't arrived and the selection is limited to the scuffed up gunk smeared, picked through dregs of piping and doesn't want to make a second trip to get them.
For those... scrape a sharp pairing knife blade across the surface of the pvc... moderately at first, then finish with light pressure. Same method for putting a slight bevel on the inside and outside of the pipe ends.
