Sooo... trying to figure out what kind of critters to add to my shark tanks to help with cleanup? Any suggestions? Have a cold water tank for my smooth hound, and a warm water tank coming in - so suggestions for both/either would be appreciated. Cold water tank is 500 gallons, warm water is 2000.

turbos? Anything is subject to be eaten, but some really big turbos might not. Maybe nassarius snails, because they hide under-sand until food hits the water, but certain rays dig for such things. I dont really know what is safe. Just some suggestions.

I use both with some bamboos and rays right now. I think they are just the lucky ones.

I was thinking starfish and urchins - I know the benthic sharks chow on both, but not sure about requiem sharks (BTRs, most likely) and rays.

starfish will be eaten, and urchins can cause some serious damage to the skin and mouth, if they are attempted to be eaten.

Usually when you step up to sharks and 'big' tanks, some of the theories and ideas used for smaller set ups fall to the way side. (Invert clean up crew being one of them.) A good filter and some manual cleaning every now and then will do the trick.

Well, it's not so much for the cleaning - more to add something to the tank that won't add significantly to the bio-load. I'd love to ad some of the larger, more colorful stars to the warm water tank. Tenecor's providing their wet/dry system, and I've got a euro-reef skimmer, plus UV and sand filters. Pics will be up as soon as the tank shows up.
