Cleaning ehiem 2262 intervals?

So I was told by the previous owner he cleaned this canister every 3 months so that's what I was gonna do. Well I couldn't wait that long so I did it at two and a half months. Mistake, I won't wait that long again! Once a month now, I'll have it on a rotation with my Fx-5 so every two weeks I'll clean a canister.

I did mine on six weeks when it was the filter for my 110, now that it's mainly bio for a 75, I just backwash it during water changes. I may break it open next month to see if that's enough.

Yeah, definitely a trial and error thing based on stock levels and media set up. I ran a bunch of polyfil in mine and had to crack it open after 4 weeks.

Yeah I got a lot of load now since adding the tinfoil barbs. Gonna move my large pleco out of the 220 now.
