What do you use to clean off the glass covers for the halides? Windex? Just worried about putting a substance on it that could cause a break or crack once it heats up.

You can use Windex.

You will be wiping it off anyway so there won't be much left but some residue. Just make sure you clean it when it is turned off. I assume you don't want to be blind anyway and wouldn't do it on lol!! The glass is not usually what breaks, it is the bulb itself from being touched(oils from hands left on it) or a quick change in temperature(often from a splash of water).

awesome thank you.

What about the aluminum housing. What product do you guys use for that?

I clean lights once a week (or at least I used to) on my 75g.

Just do it before your lights come on...really kinda struggling on what to do when I upgrade from glass covers to just a mesh covering over my 125g...I hope that I wont be getting creep on my bulbs etc...but that is probably hoping for too much.

I just use warm tap water to clean stuff.

Front glass of tank I use windex carefully. For the housings of my fixtures I just wipe down with a wet washcloth

On the inside of fixtures and aluminum housings I only use water as well. Those aren't as easy to get everything off residue wise if you use a chemical. Really the only thing that should be on the inside of the fixtures should be dust anyway unless you are using MH pendants because there should be a glass/acrylic covering.

i was actually looking for info on the outside glass and the top side of the housing, which is just just a little water dribble. Thanks for the info guys.
