ive had 2 fluval 404 on my 75 gallon severum tank it has two sevs small and some clown loaches i cleaned one filter after a month and it wasnt dirty at all theyv been on 2 1/2 months when do you guys think i should clean them my water flow is still excelent and water parameters are perfect

don't clean them,I know some people that did not clean their filters for over a year,if you clean the filter all the good bacteria's will die!!
filters which haven't got cleaned for longer period of time have way more bacteria's and that helps to keep water excellent,I did not clean my filters for over 2 months and they work way better then before,I use to clean them each week during an W/C but some one told me that is better too not clean them so often but it all depends how big is your aquarium and how many fish's you have there but also filter volume and flow is important.
I got two fluvals 405 on my 160 uk gallon aquarium with two Oscars and water is perfect for over 14 days but i do 50% W/C every week anyway.

wait a minute so your tellen me to not take apart my filter and clean the sponge and rinse the media if i dont wont my water qaulity go south

Wrong! The beneficial bacteria will not die!
All media should be rinsed and washed with old tank water from water change.

Beneficial bacteria dies when come into contact with water straight from tap.

I would clean the filters out once every 6 months. Thats what I've been doing and no problems thus far.

Filter media is expensive so use your own discretion and remember it all depends on your tank load. usually I go 3-9 months sorry about the range I just use my own discretion. And like someone else said be sure to use water change fluid to rinse your filter media .

My 404 gets incredibly nasty inside after a few months. Open it up, and if the water inside is super cloudy, you should probably clean it.

Out of the 4 sponges, I rinse two at a time.

Out if the 4 baskets, I rinse one at a time.

If you clean the entire filter all at once, you will dramatically reduce the amount of BB in the filter.
