I have a couple of tanks with stains on the glass that look like they are from hard water. I tired clr on them razor blades and scrubpads nothing grdts rid of it. any ideas?

CLR should have done the trick.

Take a towel and soak it in vinegar or clr then set the towel on the hard water stains and let it sit for at least an hour. That should loosen it up enough to scrape off, it might even wipe off if you let it soften up enough.

Just remember to rinse, rinse, rinse and rinse again when using CLR.

i try to use no chemical first....try water and 1000git sand paper and elbow grease to clean the tank.

Now not sure this is a great idea but might be worth it. If you are using CLR that is harsh chemical so you'll be rinsing the tank a lot anyways. There is a product at your hardware store comes in a yellow can called goof off that will clean crap of intestine walls. Its real tough chemical but it takes anything off anything. Just suggestion I wouldn't use it as a first or second but if the CLR or vinegar soaked rag doesn't work this might be a last resort.

Ive never met anything i couldnt get off with a little denatured alcohol and a razor blade.,., but like said before Id work with something softer before you go chemical style.,., unless your not planning on using the tank for a little and you can take the time to thoroughly clean off any chemical residue that may be left over.,., itd be a damn shame to do all the work to clean your glass only to have your fish floatin at the top cause something harsh got in your water

PH down.

...or UP...I forget which one. Whichever one has sulfur in it.
It works 100% of the time, ever time. .. . .. . . . . . .
Trust me.

Thanks I'll try the ideas most of the stains are on the outside of the tank where the water spills over the back between the background and the glass.
