well im setting up a 20 long for convicts (im in no hurry) and i justed added the gravel i washed TWO times, and the whole tank turned murky like mud and then i drained it and added 5 gallons and then the whole portion i added turned murky again. i'm kinda annoyed, so how should i wash it again? this is cheap home depot gravel i picked up for a few $

Whenever I got new gravel from anywhere or of any kind, I would put a small portion of it into a tub and just rinse the crap out of it till the water clears up. Dump that into the tank, and repeat. Some gravel you need to spend alot of time getting clean. Also no matter how well you clean it the water in your tank is going to be murky for awhile until some of that stuff settles out, but in time it will clear up, no worries. Dont forget when you do gravel vacs that is going to suck up some of the light particles that settled out. Just take your time cleaning it and give it time to settle in your tank as well.

Like boisblancboy said, plus are you sure nothing is dissolving?
