hello guys,

i just bought a 90 gallon acrylic aquarium and it has hard water stains on the top where the light sits.

i've heard of razor blades to lime juice and vinegar.

what are MFK members suggestions?

Soak in vinegar... scrap with razor blade...

Razor blades with warm water should do the trick unless it's thick. If it's thick and really crusty soak it in vinegar or any off the shelf hard water stain remover.

Be careful with that, as most of those contain harsh acids.

A few years ago I picked up a tank from an estate sale; the filter was unplugged & the water in the tank was allowed to evaporate, fish and all. The guy gave me the 20 hex for $5 because he figured i was throwing my money away & it would never come clean. You couldn't even see through the glass- SOLID white stains. The Works toilet bowl cleaner fixed it for me. I barely even had to wipe it out after squirting The Works on all the stains. But I recommend washing it out REALLY well after, and even scrubbing it out with baking soda. The Works contains hydrochloric acid, and it is NOT good for you or your fish.

White vinegar is the cheapest and works great.Dont use razor blades on acrylic. For tough spots lay a paper towel saturated in vinegar on it for a few hours.
