Cleaning onyx sand

I spent over an hour rinsing black onyx sand for my 92 gallon corner tank - and when I put it in my tank and filled it with water, the result was very cloudy, and still is 6 hours later. Any advice?

I'm worried that I just didn't do a good enough job and I'll have to start over completely. Help!
