Hello, I was wondering how I should go about cleaning out my rena xp3. I don't want to ruin the cycle so what methods should I use and how do you clean out the tubing ect.

Thanks!
Andrew

i personally wouldn't bother the tubes at all.. turn off the filter, take it to the sink, either rinse out the filter pads or foam blocks in used tank water. then put the pads or foam blocks back in the filter, close it up and put it back on your tank and start it back up.

if you're going to replace the filter pads or foam blocks be sure to rinse them well in used tank water before you put them in the filter.

if you don't replace the carbon often i wouldn't replace it, or i would be careful with removing it because your bacteria has probably colonized it, you might have a mini cycle removing it.

never replace the biomax.

simply fill a 5 gallon bucket with tank water, put your carbon and biomax and other bio media in the bucket with the tank water, then rinse and scrub the rest of the filter parts as much as you want. then put it back together

I never clean my tubes but I do the filter maitanence before I change the water since the tubes shoot stuff out when you turn it back on again.

As far as media- you should be fine- just rinse some of it in old water but not all. That's it...easy.

tubes are fine, ive never cleaned them. just clean out any mech filtration you have
