How do you guys clean your plants with out damaging them, I keep getting algae on my plants but can't seem to get it off them with out scrubbing "hard" and I don't want to damage the plants, what tips do you experts have?

I've had good luck with Otocinclus. They will eat algae off leaves without actually eating the plants.

Keep the nutrients in proper order and you won't get algae on the leaves. There is no real way to remove the algae from the leaves without destroying them.

my nutrients are in proper line but just gradually over time there has been some that has grown on them.

What kinda plants do you have? I had ordered some java fern from an on-line seller and it came in loaded with BBA. I mixed 1 part (cup) bleach 2 parts (cups) water. Then I dipped the java fern into the solution to rid the plants of the BBA. The BBA turned white and after a few days there was not a single sign of it any where. However I would not suggest to do this just to remove some common algae. Some plants are more sensitive to this than others. Also the plants roots should not be treated. You may need to adjust your lighting, nutrients, and Co2 (if you use it).

Its an Anubias, but its been in there for 2-3 months right now

are usually a very hardy plant. I would just try to wipe the algae off the leaves. Maybe use an aquarium sponge or cleaning pad.

yah the algae doesn't seem to be really affecting it it just looks bad, but i'll give that a try :)

Just rub the leaf with your fingers use a nail it's ok. Oto are amazing and eat just about any algea. I get some black hair algea and I have been useing excel and apply it right to the plant leaf. This seems to work well. I remove any really bad leafs.

awesome thanks, I would love to get an oto but the problem is the fish that I have would eat um most likely
