Hey, sorry if this has been covered before. I did a quick search and couldn't see anything but there are a hell of a lot of posts with the word Purigen in.

I use it in my tank and bought enough that I could be cleaning some and have some working all the time, the thing is I'm not too keen on using bleach on anything that's going near my water, let alone in the filter. Is there another way that it can be recharged or am I just being over cautious?

Right back at the start just after the tank had cycled and I'd started stocking I managed to kill most of the bacteria by doing a large water change using Stress Zyme instead of Stress Coat and only realised after I'd closed the lid and started to tidy up, needless to say I don't want a repeat of that now I have so many inmates. I dont even have any excuses other than i'm a special case!

I use the bleach all the time. Just follow the directions and nothing bad will happen.

1) follow directions and you are fine

2) some reefers who have used purigen for 5-6 years skip the prime step - and air dry the bleached/rinsed purigen for a day or two - the bleach will 100% evaporate

now, i know you are not "supposed" to let purigen completely dry out - but given people have done it successfully and continued to use/recharge it doing it that way - its another option for you

Yes, just follow the directions and you will be fine. I have been using it for 5 months now and no issues. I just stared skipping the last step which is adding PH buffer. I have only done this once but so far no issues.
